Fundraising during Lockdown

Dean loses his hair for me&dee

As the lockdown came into force because of the Covid 19 virus all of the charity events and fundraisers got postponed or cancelled, Dean Owen decided to help out. He volunteered to shave his head and set up his JustGiving page for his friends and family to sponsor him.

Dean raised £342.50 altogether which was an amazing amount to raise but also gave us hope that people would step up and support me&dee in anyway they could.

You can see the before and after photo below and a photo to prove that his hair is returning, thank you Dean, you are amazing and we can’t thank you and your supporters enough.

Roo’s first Shave

Roo is just 12 years old and has been one of our young fundraisers since his Mum, Anita, got involved with me&dee 10 years ago. Anita is one of the charities Trustees now and knows just how much the effect of the  lockdown has had on the charity.

Earlier this year Roo did another fundraiser for me&dee, a virtual walk from the charity office in Melbourne to our new holiday home based at Sherwood Hideaway, he raised £431.00, you can see him below with his step counter.

Once he heard about the charities fundraisers being cancelled he said he wanted to raise some more money and after a chat he decided that he would follow in Deans steps and shave his head, much to the horror of his Mum!

So on May 2nd 2020 he sat down to let his Dad, Mick, set about cutting his curly hair. At the start of the day Roo had raised just over £400, he had set a target of £150 so he has happy with that but as the day progressed and his locks of hair were now on the floor, Mum crying in the corner, he had raised £1, 235.00 with Gift Aid, WOW!!

So as you can see, Roo has certainly contributed towards supporting me&dee and along with Dean over £2,000 has been raised! Thanks to Roo, his family and friends for the tremendous support.

Roo you are our shinning star, you have been raising funds for us since you were 2 years old, you have grown in to an upstanding young man and we are so proud to have you in our lives xxx.
