Ralph and Zak cook it up!
During the first few weeks of lockdown you may recall that we asked you to send us your favourite recipes so that we could then use in our first ever me&dee cookbook.
The response was fantastic and the variation in recipes will make for a great cookbook and to make things a little more exciting we asked Ralph Skripek of Butler's Pantry to judge the entries, with the winner being invited to his kitchen to recreate the dish.
Ralph spent ages looking through the entries but eventually he chose Zak's Smoked Salmon Pasta a dish that Zak himself say's “If I could only eat one meal a day for the rest of my life, this would be it!".
7 year old Zak had a little help from his Grandmother, Sadie, submitting his recipe and she was delighted that he had been chosen as the winner, she said, “we couldn't wait to come and see Ralph and experience the atmosphere of a commercial kitchen".
What a great few hours were had, with our 'Wild Chef' Ralph helping young Zak to cook his winning dish, a yummy experience for everyone as a tasting session followed the completion of the dish.
Ralph had a great time, “Zak is full of enthusiasm and really got to grips with the dish, we added a few things here and there, being a bit 'cheffy', but he took it in his stride, it's great to see such a young lad taking an interest in fresh food".
Zak looked very professional in his chef outfit, kindly donated by Victoria at Pennline and as you can see from the photos below it was smiles all around, thanks to Simon from JAKT Photography for capturing the special memories for us.
A massive big thank you too everyone who submitted recipes. We hope to have the recipe book completed and on sale by mid-October – just in time for Christmas presents!
