Corporate Social Responsibility – CSR
What is CSR?
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a term that describes a company’s efforts to improve society in some way. There are many options that come under this banner, but one important way is donating money to charities and is equally important for companies and employees alike.
Developing relationships between the private sector and a charity is growing and proving that employees that become involved gain massive purpose and team development improves. As to why companies get involved with charities, well a recent survey found that 79% of the companies that are involved with a charity simply get involved ‘to give something back’.
The benefits that your company gets from supporting me & dee depends highly on what kind of impact you are looking for. Working with me & dee to find the most effective way of making the biggest impact for your business while at the same time, looking for opportunities, together!
Tax Benefits of a limited company donating to me&dee
Did you know that when a Limited Company donates to me&dee, the Company gets to pay less corporation tax? This is because you can deduct the value of the donations from your total business profits before you pay tax. The most you can deduct is the amount that reduces your company profit to zero.
Tax Benefits of a limited company sponsoring me&dee
A sponsorship is different to a donation because you as a business gets something related to the business in return. You can deduct the sponsorship payments from your business profits before you pay tax by treating them as business expenses
Donating as an individual, sole trader or partnership
Donations by individuals, sole traders and partnerships are tax free, known as tax relief. If you gift aid your donation, me&dee are able to claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give at no extra cost to you. You will need to make a Gift Aid declaration for me&dee in order for the tax to be claimed.
If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can claim the difference between the rate you pay and the basic rate on your donation either via your self-assessment or asking HMRC to amend you tax code.
If you are unsure of whether your donation / sponsorship qualifies or unsure of anything then best to contact the Charities Helpline or your Accountant. here.
Charity of the Year
That moment when you or one of your colleagues say, “let’s raise some money for a charity this year”!
Which one do you choose, one of the bigger national charities maybe, or do you look a little closer to home, a smaller, local charity? One that’s delivering much needed services to families going through difficult and uncertain times.
me & dee are a self-funding charity that relies entirely on people’s donations and one way we look to do this is to work closely with a business that not only wants to fulfil their Corporate Social Responsibility, but also, support a local charity by making them their charity of the year.
If you would like to consider me & dee to be your charity of the year, we would love to come and meet you and explain more about the charity and work with you and your staff, working hand in hand to raise both awareness of the charity and your company profile.
