Me and Dee 'Comfort Packs'
This is a new scheme set up by me&dee and piloted at Birmingham Children's Hospital for the Teenage Cancer Unit and ward 15, the children's oncology ward, the children’s intensive care unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Rainbow Children’s Hospice. If you would care to nominate an oncology ward or hospice to receive our comfort packs, please do contact us. You can also sponsor or gift comfort packs with a personalised card for £10 by contacting us.
Maria has become aware, whilst meeting families with very poorly children, that there is little time between diognosis and admittance to the ward. For the parents, the last thing on their mind will be necessities such as toiletries, or the time and funds to buy hot drinks. After consultation with groups of parents and with Lorraine and Zoe at the Children's Hospital, the me&dee comfort packs have been put together, with 18 parents, 6 teenagers and 12 young childrens packs being delivered, along with a Wii for ward 15 and music stools for the teenage cancer unit. (with many thanks to Wendy Sharp who gave us the name of 'comfort packs'.
The parents pack contains two of everything in toiletries, cups and untensils, lip balms, hand cream, tea and coffee, hot chocolate and cup-a-soups, tissues, towels and more.
The teenagers pack contains toiletries, lip balms and a range of games. The chidlrens pack contains toiletries, games and a soft toy.
Me&dee will be taking this scheme out to other hospitals, and it is very easy to support.
Please contact me&dee for a list of pack items, or for any further information, or to nominate a ward to receive them. They are for new admissions on wards for children admitted with life threatening/shortening conditions.
You can also donate a comfort pack right now! Just click the button below and add your own personal message that you would like to be included with the pack.

"you can shed tears that they are gone, or you can smile because they lived, you can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. Or you can do what they would want...smile...open your eyes...love...and go on".
