ANNIVERSARY BALL

Our own main fundraising event this year is our Annual Ball.

 The me&dee 6th anniversary black tie ball will be held at the Burton

Albion Ground – Pirelli Stadium – in Burton on Trent on Saturday 22nd September, 7.30pm – 1am.

The cost of a ticket is £35 and will include drinks on arrival, a 3 course meal, band, disco and auction.
Tables are for 8 or 10 and tickets are now being reserved by contacting me&dee.

Any size group of up to 10 can be reserved, and you may book more than one table for your group if you wish.

Me& Dee is delighted to announce that their 2012 Corporate Sponsor will be SJL Wealth Management.
SJL Wealth Management asked to become involved with Me& Dee after meeting Marian Hanson at an external business

event. The first Mission SJL chose to accept was to accompany Maria to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital to deliver

10 Me& Dee Comfort Packs which the company had sponsored.

SJL decided that instead of sending their Christmas Gifts to their corporate customers, they would instead donate a sum of

money to the Me& Dee Comfort Pack Scheme. Sam Lang, Managing Director of SJL Wealth Management said “This we feel, is

more worthwhile and memorable than sending wine and biscuits to our professional connections this Christmas” Richard Pope

and Cornin Holness of SJL accompanied Maria to the Teenage Oncology Ward at Birmingham Children’s Hospital where the

Comfort Packs will be placed on the ward.

In addition to the Comfort Pack Scheme SJL have also booked a full table at the upcoming Me & Dee Valentines Ball on the 10th

February, in addition Corin Holness will be undertaking a parachute jump on the 22nd April will all funds raised going to Me & Dee.
Maria Hanson is delighted to have SJL on board and is looking forward to future joint ventures between SJL and Me & Dee.

HEAD HIGH AND SMILE

‘Head High and Smile’ – our cd single. This began life as a poem written by Brian Hatherley to his son James when diagnosed

with leukaemia. This beautiful poem has now been set to music and recorded by Daniel de Bourg.

The cost of the cd is £3, you can listen to it here, and watch the video which was created for us by Chris Towland.

It would be wonderful to know that our cd is being listened to across the land.

CHANNEL 4

Me&dee received national coverage and publicity from the showing on channel 4 of the Secret Millionaire, whose kind donation allowed us initially to create 100 treats. The growth of me&dee through the follow up programme saw us growing by 20 times our size in demand and a need for a greater level of fund raising and support to cover public demand, coupled with schemes put in place for children’s oncology wards and hospices for fast track nominations, and for our comfort pack scheme.

Within this growth, and with our wish to honour nominations and our other projects, 2012 sees several changes for me&dee.

(Despite the impression given from the follow up programme, me&dee did not receive any further funding, offices, or staff as shown,

and there is no contact with the Secret Millionaire)

DAVID GEST

We are proud to have as our patron David Gest. David donated many items of personal memorabilia, which when sold at auction, allowed us to create many more special moments. David invited Maria (or me?) to the World Premiere of his new Michael Jackson film ‘The Life of an Icon’. Maria walked the red carpet with celebrity company, and was treated like a princess at the celebrity packed gala dinner party afterwards where over £6,000 was raised in a charity auction, allowing many more treats and comfort packs to be supported.  

DERBYSHIRE COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS AWARD

Maria was nominated by Mark Walker, father of Sophie (shown in the photo) who won Community Child Award. Maria won the 'be inspiring' category and shared the stage with the most inspirational people.

ME&DEE ANGELS

me&dee angels: this will be our volunteer group register. It doesn’t matter whereabouts in the country you live, and if you have

5 minutes to donate, or hours, or a car, holiday home, a skill from admin, to carpentry, to celebrity – anything at all – you can

apply for a form by contacting us and we will discuss your contribution of time with you with gratitude.

COMFORT PACKS

Our comfort pack scheme. This was piloted at Birmingham Children’s hospital and is now in place there on the Teenage Cancer Unit and on children’s oncology ward 15, along with Rainbows Hospice and the children’s intensive care unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary. We have many more hospitals and hospitals across the UK joining the scheme through 2012. Please follow the link to see how a small donation of £10 can sponsor one of these much needed packs full of necessities for parents and toiletries and toys for children can help so much on admission to cancer and intensive care wards, or to offer collections for the items needed.
